Bloomberg financial software, data, and media company headquartered in New York City has recently published report regarding the cost of mobile data in Asia. Based on the report Philippines has the lowest rates for mobile data and we beat in terms of rates Indonesia, Thailand, India, Malaysia and China.
The main reason for this is constant war between PLDT Inc. and Globe Telecom Inc. We have recently posted their recent promos GoSurf50 of Globe and the Giga Surf 50 of Smart. Those promos gives users 1GB data and additional 300MB for selected apps for extra Php50 and it all comes with unlimited texts to all networks. If you believe or not a year ago subscribers were able to get only 350 Mb’s for the same amount.
“The Philippines is a two-player market, yet they are killing each other,” said Karen Hizon, a Manila-based analyst at UBS Group AG.
Based on the Bloomberg report 1 Mb is equivalent to P5.00 revenue in the Philippines. In an other side 1 Mb in China brings P56.00. It’s noticeable that Philippines does not earn that match with this promos compare to other South-East Asian countries and due to the constant war between two largest phone companies for smartphone subscribers in a market customers in the Philippines benefiting a lot.
“This is the cheapest price for mobile data so far,” said Yolanda Crisanto, a spokeswoman for Taguig City-based Globe.
